Summer Time = Good Time for Anders

Ethan Anders has this off-season thing down to a science. When the Rebels were eliminated from the playoffs by the eventual Western Hockey League champion Prince Albert Raiders, the Rebels goaltender needed a little time off. After the grind of a 68-game schedule, plus playoffs, that's understandable.
"When I first got home from Red Deer, I took some time off from working out for a few weeks. I've been doing a lot of golfing; I have a membership at a course here. I try to go twice or three times a week. I also like to play tennis with a buddy. We go to the courts here and play a lot of tennis. Then after I was home for a few weeks, I've been in the gym," says Anders.
Anders is from Pilot Butte, Saskatchewan, that's only about a 15-minute drive east of Regina. When it comes to off-season training, Anders heads to the big city.
"I go to a certain trainer and I'm in there 5 times a week. I have to drive into Regina for that, to a gym called Level Ten Fitness. There are multiple players from our league and junior A that workout there. On Saturday's, I get a good long stretch and same thing on Sunday's too. Other than that, just hanging out with a few friends and enjoying the off season right now," explains Anders.
Now it's not all fun and games for Anders in the summer. He does work as well.
"I have a part time job for what is basically an advertising company. If a business-like Telus or Bell is going to be at an event, they will hire us. So, if there's a Saskatchewan Roughriders game and Telus or Bell want us to help them advertise their company, we will go there and set up a booth. There will be games at the booth people can play, plus we will have some merchandise to give away. Our job is to advertise for whichever company hires us," says Anders.
Anders has also been able to make a few extra bucks doing something he knows plenty about, goaltending.
"I also will work at a couple of goalie camps. There was a Western Hockey League Combine in Regina and I worked that too. But I will work a few goalie camps in Regina over the course of the summer," says Anders.
Ethan Anders will be entering his third season with the Rebels this fall. He's played 99 games with the Rebels over the last two years and another 7 in the playoffs. His on-ice game has been excellent for the Rebels over that time, and by the sounds of things, his off-ice is equally as strong.
