Sugar Land Wins Second-Straight over Isotopes with 10-5 Triumph

Albuquerque, NM - Sugar Land plated multiple runs in three innings and tallied 15 hits to win game two, 10-5, over Albuquerque Saturday night at Isotopes Park.

With the win, the Space Cowboys have won back-to-back games to take the three-game series.

In the box, the Isotopes tallied eight hits, one double and one homer. Wynton Bernard had two hits and three runs scored. Sean Bouchard launched a two-run homer while Elehuris Montero, Alan Trejo and Jonathan Morales drove in one run each.

The Space Cowboys once again took a lead in the first inning, this time plating three runs. However, in the bottom half of the frame, Albuquerque cut the deficit to 3-2 on Bouchard's two-run blast to left, his 12th of the year.

Two frames later, Sugar Land extended their lead back to three, 5-2, on a Yainer Diaz two-run shot. Their lead then grew to 8-2 in the fifth on three solo homers.

In the sixth the Space Cowboys added a run but Albuquerque scored two of their own on RBI singles by Trejo and Morales. Sugar Land led, 9-4.

The Isotopes added one more in the seventh when Montero lined an RBI single to left.

Corey Oswalt took the loss after allowing eight runs over 4.2 innings of work.

Topes Scope: - All-time, the team is 12-5 on Dukes Retro Night.

-The Isotopes have allowed 10 runs in the first inning over their last three games.

-Albuquerque has lost the first two games of a series for the eighth time this year.

-The eight runs allowed by Oswalt are tied for the third-most surrendered by an Isotopes starter this year (seven times). He also allowed 10 hits, tied for the third-most relented by an Isotopes starter this year (four times).

-Oswalt relented four homers tonight-the most in a game this season by one pitcher and most since July 23, 2019, when Tim Melville allowed five at Salt Lake, the team record.

-Albuquerque allowed back-to-back homers for the seventh time this year and second occurrence against Sugar Land.

-The Isotopes surrendered five homers on the night-tied for the second-most allowed in a game (three times). The staff has allowed at least four homers to Sugar Land in six of the 20 games played games.

-Over the 20 games played against the Space Cowboys, Isotope pitching has allowed 162 runs and 53 homers.

-Albuquerque has allowed double-digit runs to the Space Cowboys in seven of the 11 losses this year.

-The Isotopes have allowed double-digit runs in back to back games for the fifth time this season. They've allowed double-digit runs in three-straight just once (April 9-12, two games at OKC and one vs. TAC).

-Bouchard tallied multiple RBI in two-straight contests for the second time this year. He has a modest three-game hitting streak to go along with a three-game extra-base streak.

-Bernard tallied his team-leading 29th multi-hit effort of the year. It is his fourth multi-hit game in his last five. He scored three runs for the third time this year and has scored a run in five-straight. Bernard is hitting .458 (11x24) with two doubles, a triple, two homers and five RBI over his last five games.

-Montero extended his on-base streak to 26 games with a walk in the first frame-the second-longest active streak in the PCL. During the streak he is slashing .369/.447/.631 with 13 walks, five doubles, six homers and 28 RBI. He also drew two walks in a game for the fourth time this year.

-Trejo extended his hit streak to eight games with his sixth inning RBI single. During the streak, he is hitting .412 (14x34) with four doubles, one homer and five RBI.

-Justin Lawrence has fanned 41 of the 73 outs he has recorded at Triple-A.

-Julian Fernandez has allowed just five hits and two runs (two homers) over his last 16 games and 15.2 innings.

On Deck: The Isotopes and Space Cowboys will play the series finale Sunday at 6:05 pm MT. Ryan Feltner is set to start for Albuquerque while Chad Donato will toe the rubber for Sugar Land.
