Sacramento River Cats News Release
Oklahoma City, Okla. - Two two-out three-run doubles were too much to overcome as the Sacramento River Cats (40-53) fell 12-3 to the first place Oklahoma City Dodgers (55-38) in Sunday's series-finale.
Designated hitter Jason Martin in the fourth, and right fielder James Outman in the sixth dealt the decisive blows to secure the three-game series sweep by Oklahoma City.
Right fielder Austin Dean opened the scoring in the second. After catcher Andrew Knapp singled and took second on a throwing error, Dean lined a single to left field for his 35th RBI of the season. Dean got Sacramento within one when he doubled home second baseman Isan Díaz in the sixth.
Designated hitter Jason Krizan extended his hitting streak to 11 and on-base streak to 18 with a fifth-inning single. The 33-year-old is 27-for-68 (.397) with 18 runs, 10 doubles, three home runs, 13 RBIs, and a 1.125 OPS since June 12.
Sacramento added a third run in the seventh when shortstop Arquímedes Gamboa doubled, took third on a single, and scored when Krizan grounded into a double play.
Right-hander Sean Hjelle (4-4) struck out four with three earned runs on six hits and four walks in 4.0 innings. The Sacramento bullpen was burned for nine runs (eight earned) on six hits and six walks in 4.0 frames.
The River Cats will enjoy their Monday off day in Texas, traveling to Round Rock to take on the Express for a six-game series starting Tuesday.
Righty Tristan Beck (3-6, 6.85) will kick off the series against an Express TBD at 5:05 p.m. (PT). Listen to Johnny Doskow call the game online at rivercats.com or on the MiLB First Pitch app.
