York Revolution News Release

York, Pa.- The momentum came too little, too late for the York Revolution, who fell 4-3 to the Sugar Land Skeeters on Thursday night at PeoplesBank Park. The Revs (25-20, 65-50) dropped the rubber game of the series against the Skeeters (30-17, 65-52) in a matchup of the teams with the two best records in the Atlantic League.

Brett Marshall (4-5) won the game for the Skeeters, allowing two runs on eight hits in six-plus innings. He walked none and struck out five on 68 pitches.

Ty'Relle Harris (4-5) suffered the loss despite his third straight quality start, allowing three runs on six hits in six innings. He has a 1.92 ERA (4 ER, 18.2 IP) over his last three outings.

Sugar Land wasted no time getting on the board. Josh Prince led off with a bad-hop infield single to third, then Rene Tosoni replaced him at first on a fielder's choice. Tosoni stole second base with Delwyn Young at the plate, and Young smashed a two-run homer over the big wall in right field to make it 2-0.

Young was again in on scoring action in the third inning, plating Tosoni on a sacrifice fly after the latter's leadoff triple that scraped the Arch Nemesis.

The run support was more than enough for Marshall, who was in control for the first six innings. He faced the minimum through the first five, relying on a couple groundball double plays and a strike-him-out, throw-him-out to end the third.

The Revs finally came to life in the seventh as Michael Rockett belted the first pitch of the inning into the left center playground for his sixth home run of the year. Joel Guzman and Andres Perez followed with back-to-back singles, and Isaias Tejeda ripped a base hit over short to score Guzman to make it 3-2.

Tejeda's RBI single chased Marshall from the game as Andrew Johnston was called on to put out the fire. He struck out Kevin Rivers and Keith Castillo in succession before facing Bryan Pounds with two on and two out. Against a hitter with a clutch reputation, Johnston won out and forced Pounds to pop out to first, extinguishing the rally and preserving Sugar Land's lead.

Jeremy Barfield shot a grounder right back to Nate Reed to lead off the eighth, but Reed lofted the throw over first base and Barfield ended up on second base. Three batters later, Wlifredo Rodriguez grounded a single into center and Barfield came charging home. Rockett unleashed a powerful throw that arrived to the plate at the same time as the runner, but Barfield snuck his foot in underneath Castillo's tag for a safe call, and the Skeeters went back up 4-2.

The Revs made noise in the bottom of the ninth as Isaias Tejeda slammed a line drive solo home run over the Nemesis in left, but closer Derrick Loop struck out Kevin Rivers on a slider to end the game, and the Skeeters escaped York with a series win.

Young drove in three of the four Sugar Land runs. Albert Cordero went 3-for-4 with a double and a stolen base, now 9-for-12 over his last three games played.

Tejeda led the way for York, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Tejeda now has a 20-game hitting streak, establishing the longest in the Atlantic League this season and tied with Shea Hillenbrand (2008) for the seventh-longest in franchise history. Tejeda also had a 20-gamer in the summer of 2014 with the Staten Island Yankees and a 10-gamer in May this season.

Jared Mitchell also had two hits on the night.

Notes: York finishes 5-5 at home against Sugar Land this regular season and 8-12 overall. The Revs are 39-20 at home and have lost back-to-back home series for the first time all season. The Revs now hit the road for a seven-game trip, staring Friday night at Long Island with Tony Pena (7-7, 5.19) on the rubber at Bethpage Ballpark, opposite Ducks righty Nick Struck (1-3, 4.26). Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile app beginning at 6:15 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call. orkrevlcl_
