York Revolution News Release
Sugar Land, Texas - The York Revolution dropped their second straight to the Sugar Land Skeeters, 4-1 on Saturday night in front of 6,292 fans at Constellation Field. The Revs will look to avoid the sweep and salvage the finale of the three-game series on Sunday evening, before returning home to kick off a seven-game homestand on Monday night.
Sugar Land did the bulk of its damage in the bottom of the second, scoring three times for an early 3-0 lead. Travis Scott and Jeremy Barfield led off with singles, and Jeff Dominguez provided the big hit on a two-run triple down the right field line. Dominguez would then score on a groundout to short by Beamer Weems.
The Skeeters struck again in the fourth, as Dominguez worked a one-out walk and stole second. He would score on a two-out RBI single to center by Johan Limonta, as Sugar Land's lead grew to 4-0.
Skeeters lefty Roy Merritt held the Revs without a hit through the first four innings before Bryan Pounds led off the fifth with a double down the right field line. Pounds then scored with two outs on an infield single by Ryde Rodriguez to put the Revs on the board.
Merritt (4-2) rebounded with a 1-2-3 sixth to cap a strong outing, earning the win after limiting the Revs to just two hits and one run while striking out seven in six innings of work.
Zech Zinicola tossed a 1-2-3 seventh out of the Sugar Land bullpen, while Dan Runzler worked around a pair of two-out singles for a scoreless eighth. Derrick Loop allowed just a single to Andres Perez in the ninth, claiming his 19th save.
Revs righty Ty'Relle Harris (2-4) finished strong with scoreless frames in the fifth and sixth but suffered the loss, charged with four runs in six innings of work.
Jose Arredondo and Manny Corpas each logged scoreless innings out of the Revolution bullpen to keep the score where it stood.
Notes: The Revs (7-8, 47-38) fall two games behind Sugar Land (10-7, 45-42) for first place in the Freedom Division's second half standings. York is now 6-10 against Sugar Land on the season, including just 2-7 at Constellation Field. The Revs have suffered series losses in all three visits to Texas. The Revs had scored five runs or more in each of their previous six games before being held to a combined one run in the first two games of their series in Sugar Land. It is their lowest two-game run total since June 4-5. York righty Tony Pena (5-5, 3.95) will face Sugar Land right-hander Jake Hale (2-2, 2.95) in Sunday's series finale at 7:05 p.m. EDT. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile app beginning at 6:45 p.m. EDT with Darrell Henry on the call.
