(Peterborough, ON) - The Petes continued their tradition of success at the NHL Entry Draft this weekend in Sunrise, Florida. Two players, Matt Spencer and Steve Lorentz, were drafted, while defenceman Cam Lizotte was invited to attend the Toronto Maple Leafs' development and rookie camps.

During the draft broadcast, fans were excited to see a graphic from Sportsnet listing the Petes as the most successful team in draft-day history, with 174 (now 176) Petes players having been taken in the annual draft.

Spencer was selected in the second round, 44th overall to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He joins fellow Petes defenceman and regular linemate Dominik Masin in the Lightning organization. Masin was drafted by Tampa Bay and GM Steve Yzerman - a former Pete - in the second round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Later on Saturday, in the seventh round, Steve Lorentz's name was called by the Carolina Hurricanes with the 186th overall pick. The centre from Waterloo was in his second year of draft eligibility.

Although Cam Lizotte - who was ranked as the 99th overall North American skater by NHL Central Scouting - wasn't selected, shortly after the draft he accepted an offer from the Toronto Maple Leafs to attend their development camp in July and rookie camp later in the summer.

Up next for the Petes is the 2015 CHL Import Draft on Tuesday, June 30 at 11am ET. The Petes currently possess that 15th and 75th overall selections in the draft.
