
Strong Start from Marshall Gives Skeeters Second Straight Win

WALDORF, MD - The Sugar Land Skeeters won their second straight game after defeating the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 5-2 on Saturday night. The Skeeters move to 34-28 in the second half but remain a half game back of York for 1st place in the Freedom Division.
Brett Marshall had a great outing while earning his 5th win of the season. The former Major Leaguer went seven innings, giving up only two runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts and a walk. Gaby Hernandez took his 9th loss of the season after five innings of work, giving up four runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts and two walks.
Barfield opened up the scoring by adding to his single season home run record, launching his 23rd of the season to give the Skeeters a 1-0 lead in the 1st. Jeff Dominguez' two-run double in the 5th extended Sugar Land's lead to 3-0. Barfield belted his 24th homer of the season in the 5th to make it a 4-0 ball game. The Blue Crabs pushed two runs across in the 8th but wouldn't be able to overcome the Skeeters lead. Andrew Johnston came on in the 9th to record his 3rd save of the season.
