The club set a season high in hits with 22 and came within two runs of their franchise run record. PENNANT RACE: With Wednesday night's loss, the Skeeters are now a half game back of York for 1st place in the Freedom Division. Sugar Land is currently a half game ahead of New Britain in the wildcard slot. AGAINST SOUTHERN MARYLAND: The Skeeters are 6-7 against the Blue Crabs so far this season (2-4 at Constellation Field, 4-3 at Regency Furniture Stadium). Sugar Land is 44-49 in the all-time series against Southern Maryland (22-24 at Constellation Field, 21-25) at Regency Furniture Stadium).
LAST TIME OUT FOR MARSHALL Brett Marshall had one of his better outings of the season, going six innings and giving up only two runs on five hits with four strikeouts and a walk. Marshall didn't pick up the decision in what would eventually be a 4-3 loss to the Lancaster Barnstormers. TOSONI THE TRIPLE KING: Rene Tosoni finished 3-6 with a 2B, (2) 3B and an RBI against the Blue Crabs on Friday night. Tosoni's triples gives him 10 on the season which passes Ryan Langerhans (8, 2014) for most by a Skeeter in a single season. Tosoni is also on a 9 G hitting streak, batting .450 (18-40) with (5) 3B, 3 RBI and 6 R.
HAGUE SEASON HIGH STREAK: Ricky Hague extended his hitting streak to 15 consecutive games on Friday night and tied Delwyn Young for the longest hitting streak by a Skeeter during the 2016 season. Over the last 15 G, Hague is batting .366 (22-60) with 2 HR, 8 RBI and 10 R. Hague has also hit safely in 21 of his last 23 G, batting .344 (32-93) with 5 HR, 18 RBI and 14 R. A NIGHT TO DY FOR: Delwyn Young finished a perfect 5-5 with (2) 2B, RBI and 5 R Friday against the Blue Crabs and has now hit safely in 11 of his last 13 G. Over that stretch, Young is batting .381 (21-55) with a HR, (2) 2B, 10 RBI and 12 R. WOWING WILFREDO: Wilfredo Rodriguez also had a perfect evening, breaking out of his 2-15 skid by going 4-4 with a 2B, 3B, 5 RBI and 4 R. P SQUARED: Patrick Palmeiro returned to the Skeeters lineup again on Friday night and made the most of his opportunity, going 3-6 with a HR, 2 RBI and a R. Palmeiro has hit safely in 11 of his last 13 G, batting .333 (13-39) with (4) 2B, 5 HR, 13 RBI and 8 R BARFIELD'S CHASE FOR HISTORY: Jeremy Barfield has hit safely in 15 of his last 19 G, batting .333 (25-75) with (6) 2B, 4 HR, 12 RBI and 15 R.
