Strike Force Sign Lyle McCombs

SAN DIEGO, California - The Strike Force have signed running back Lyle McCombs to their 2020 Indoor Football League roster.

McCombs (5-8, 195, University of Connecticut) joins San Diego as a veteran of the IFL spending stints with Nebraska Danger and the Sioux Falls Storm. During the 2018 season McCombs returned from injury to start every game, helping the Storm to a 11-3 record and a United Bowl Appearance. He was voted Most Improved player after ranking fourth in the IFL in rushing yards (437) and rushing touchdowns (15) also being named as Second Team All-IFL running back.

"Lyle is a do-it-all skill player with elite pass catching abilities out of the backfield," said Strike Force General Manager Ryan Eucker. "He'll add another dimension to Coach Sewell's offense. We're excited about the talented combination in our backfield and the versatility Lyle adds to our skill position group."

Prior to his indoor football career, McCombs graduated from the University of Connecticut with a total 2,623 rushing yards, 523 receiving yards, 40 punt returns and 444 kick returns in 35 games played averaging 103.7 yards per game. Lyle led the Huskies in rushing during the 2011(freshman season) and 2012 campaigns for which he was ranked 29th in the country in rushing at 95.92 yards per game and was second in the Big East. He was named Freshman All-American by the Football Writers Association of America, Second Team All-BIG EAST selection, team[apos]s Offensive Player of the Year, and was the second-leading freshman rusher in the country. Originally from Staten Island, New York McCombs attended St. Joseph by the Sea where he was named New York Daily News All-City team and New York Post All-Staten Island as well as co-winner of Al Fabbri Award, given each year to the top high school football player on Staten Island.
