
Streek Scores Twice As Chiefs Wrap Up Preseason With Tough 6-2 Loss To Winterhawks

Kennewick, Wash. - The Chiefs wrapped up the preseason slate on Saturday afternoon with a third contest against the Portland Winterhawks across six preseason games.
An eventful first period saw three penalties called and three goals scored. First from the Winterhawks, Alex Thompson found the twine at 5:40 thanks to an assist from Kayd Ruedig.
The Chiefs would answer back with a goal from Carter Streek at 11:28. Mathis Preston with the helper on the play.
Portland answered right back just a few minutes later with the goal from Tyson Yaremko and the Chiefs would go into the first intermission trailing by one.
Carter Streek didn't waste any time coming out of the intermission, snagging his second of the game just 2:17 into the period. Ben Bonni recorded the assist on the play.
The Chiefs would then go on the power play but get bit shorthanded by Nguyen as the Winterhawks jump back into the lead 3-2. Portland would tack on another goal to start the third period with Kyle Chyzowski becoming the fourth Winterhawks' goal scorer in the game. Portland added two more goals in the frame and closed out the game strongly, pulling away to win 6-2.
Cooper Michaluk played the entire game in net, making 28 saves while the team went 0-4 on the power play and 1-2 on the penalty kill. That wraps up preseason play with the Chiefs traveling to Kamloops on Friday, September 22nd to open the regular season on the road.

Spokane finished off the 2023-24 preseason with a record of 3-2-1 featuring victories over Seattle, Portland, and Wenatchee.
Catton led all Chiefs skaters with 11 points (3G, 8A), while Roulette had 8 points (3G, 5A), and rookie Owen Martin finished with a team lead 4 goals plus 2 assists to earn 6 points.
Dawson Cowan led the way in net notching 2 wins, 2.98 GAA, and .918 SV%.
