Pats Make Late Comeback, But Fall 4-3

Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats finished their pre-season schedule on the road in Prince Albert, falling 4-3 to the Raiders on Friday inside the Art Hauser Centre.

The Pats fell behind 3-0 before scoring three unanswered goals, with two of them coming late in the third period. Zack Stringer got Regina on the board in the second and Tye Spencer scored twice in the third to even the contest up.

It was Ryder Ritchie's second of the night that was the winner for the Raiders, as they improve to 3-0 on the pre-season. Regina falls to 0-3-1.

To go along with Spencer's two goal game, Braxton Whitehead chipped in with two assists.

THE GOALS

First Period

1-0 Raiders at 1:44 - Ryder Ritchie (2), assisted by Sloan Stanick & Aiden Oiring // Ritchie circled around the Regina zone before walking into the right circle and ripping home a hard snap shot into the top left corner.

2-0 Raiders at 5:49 - Justice Christensen (1), assisted by Sloan Stanick // Cristensen skated up the middle and took a harmless shot on net which popped out back to him where he cleaned up his own rebound, beating Huet five hole.

Second Period

3-0 Raiders at 14:05 - Justice Christensen (2), unassisted // Cristensen sent a harmless shot on net from the bottom of the right dot that took a deflection off Ty Plaisier and into the net for a 3-0 lead.

1-3 Pats at 15:41 - Zack Stringer (1), assisted by Jaxsin Vaughan & Aaron Krestanowich // Krestanowich's shot bounced off a leg right to Stringer who pounced on the rebound to get Regina on the board.

Third Period

2-3 Pats at 15:41 - Tye Spencer (2), assisted by Braxton Whitehead (PP) // Spencer picked up a loose puck in the crease and jammed home his second of the pre-season to get the Pats back in it.

3-3 Pats at 16:05 - Tye Spencer (3), assisted by Braxton Whitehead & Ty Plaisier // The Pats completed the comeback with their third unanswered goal. Tye Spencer went undetected in the slot and ripped home a bouncing puck to tie it.

4-3 Raiders at 19:23 - Ryder Ritchie (3), assisted by Justice Christensen // Ritchie came bursting in down the right wing side and ripped the puck under the glove of Huet to put Prince Albert in front 4-3.

The Pats will begin the regular season on the road against the Brandon Wheat Kings on Friday, September 22. The 2023-24 season home opener is on Saturday, September 23 against the Saskatoon Blades.
