Streak Stopped in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY, IA- The Wichita Wingnuts lost 6-1 to the Sioux City Explorers on Saturday night at Lewis and Clark Park. Will Savage had a strong start, pitching into the eighth inning, but Wichita left 15 runners on base in their loss.

The X's led 2-0 into the eighth before breaking the game open. Jason Colson hit a two-out three run home run to make it 6-0. Colson finished the night with four RBIs.

Savage worked seven-plus innings, and was charged with four runs. Savage allowed just five hits. Wichita's lone run came on an RBI single from Steve Pearson in the top of the ninth.

Greg Porter singled in the top of the first for the 900th hit of his professional career. Trevor Fox earned the win for Sioux City, throwing 5.1 scoreless innings despite walking six. The loss snapped a 10-game Wingnuts winning streak at Lewis and Clark Park that dated back to last season.

The Wingnuts and Explorers finish their series tomorrow night at 6:05 p.m. Derek Blacksher and Ty Marotz are the scheduled starters.
