Stout Perfect, Saves Cougars

Geneva, Illinois - The Kane County Cougars (58-58, 23-24) bested the Burlington Bees (44-70, 14-31), 4-2, on Saturday night at Northwestern Medicine Field in front of nearly 8,000 fans.

For the second straight night, the Cougars took a first inning lead. Yoel Yanqui reached on a hit-by-pitch and Yan Sanchez did the same on a single. Both scored on Tra Holmes' two-run single. In the third, Ryan Grotjohn won a 10-pitch battle and belted a run-scoring double to right field, giving the Cougars a 3-0 cushion.

Burlington struck back for a run in the fourth. Spencer Griffin reached on a one-out single and came around to score with two outs on a wild pitch. The Cougars got that run back with a Yoel Yanqui RBI single in the sixth to make it 4-1 Cougars.

Burlington scratched across a run in the seventh. Harrison Wenson reached on an error by Cougar third baseman Eudy Ramos. Wenson scored on an RBI fielder's choice to trim the Cougar lead to 4-2.

In that seventh frame, the Bees had the bases loaded with two outs. Kyler Stout came out of the bullpen to end the threat with a ground out to third. Stout completed 2.1 innings of perfect baseball, earning his third save.

Mack Lemieux (3-9) earned the win, tossing five innings of one-run ball. Rafael Pujols allowed an unearned run in 1.2 innings on the mound.

Max Hermann (2-7) took the loss for the Bees. He was charged with two runs in the first and had to leave the game after being hit in the elbow by a line drive in the same frame.
