Reading Fightin Phils News Release

The Reading Fightin Phils fell to the Akron RubberDucks 9-3 in Friday night's contest. Reading hit three home runs, all solo shots.

Bryson Stott slammed a solo shot to left in the bottom of the first to put the Fightins up early.

However, Akron countered back as Andruw Monasterio knocked one out of the park as well tying things up.

In the top of the third, a three run blast from Brayan Rocchio put Akron up 4-1.

Madison Stokes cut the lead in half with a solo shot of his own. Stokes has hit all nine of his homers this season at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Akron tacked two more runs on with a two-run home run thanks to Bo Naylor.

The RubberDucks added insurance runs in the top of the seventh. Steven Kwan led off with a double and Rocchio followed with a base hit of his own. A wild pitch allowed Kwan to score as Rocchio came home on a Will Brennan single. The bases were loaded for Marcos Gonzales and he walked in Akron's ninth run of the night.

Stott had a two homer day as he slammed another one out to left in the bottom of the eighth to make it 9-3.

James McArthur (L, 1-5) threw five innings of work allowing six hits and four earned runs all coming off long balls. The righty notched ten strikeouts in his start, a career high. Nick Lackney took the ball in relief first allowing four hits and five runs in an inning and a third. He handed the ball over to Aneurys Zabala to finish the seventh. Zabala walked in a run which reverted back to Lackney. He let up just one hit in his 1.2 innings pitched. Brian Marconi threw a 1-2-3 top of the ninth.
