Stormers Announce Opening Night Promotions, Free Thursday Kick-off Party

DES MOINES - In preparation for the 2009 home opener, the locally-owned Iowa Barnstormers Arena Football Club today announced promotional highlights for Saturday's game as well as a free-to-the-public Kick-Off Party Thursday night at the Prairie Meadows Event Center in Altoona.

The Barnstormers (1-0), who averaged nearly 9,400 fans per home game during the team's inaugural 2008 campaign, will take on Tulsa (1-0) at 7:05 p.m., Saturday, April 4 at Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Field at Wells Fargo Arena in downtown Des Moines.

"We have the best fans in all of arena football and now we have a championship caliber team on the field to match," said Barnstormers President Jeff Lamberti, noting the 'Stormers dominating performance in the 60-38 victory over the Milwaukee Iron on March 27. "If opposing teams thought The Well was a tough place to play last year, they haven't seen anything yet."

FREE Barnstormers Kick-Off Party at Prairie Meadows. The locally-owned Barnstormers understand the economic uncertainty for many central Iowa families, which is why they have teamed up with Prairie Meadows for not only a FREE-to-the-PUBLIC "Season Kick-Off Party" on Thursday, April 2, but will exclusively offer 4 game tickets for $40 to all fans who attend the Kick-Off Party. The April 2 Kick-Off party, starting at 6:30 p.m., will feature Barnstormers players, coaches and the Storm Chasers Dance Team, as well as prize drawings for tickets and merchandise.

5,000 FREE Cowbells provided by Wellmark. The Barnstormers have teamed with Wellmark Blue Cross & Blue Shield and will give-away FREE Barnstormers cowbells to the first 5,000 fans in attendance at Saturday's game.

"One Night Stand" presented by 95KGGO. The best tailgate party in arena football returns to Des Moines for another season as local classic rock band, One Night Stand, will perform at the Official Barnstormers Pre-Game Tailgate Party courtesy of 95KGGO, Classic Rock that ROCKS. The party will start at 4 p.m. in the parking lot immediately north of Vets Auditorium.

The $10K QB Challenge, presented by The Cell City /FastSigns Experience. The Barnstormers have partnered with the locally-owned Cell City Wirelss & FastSigns to feature a tailgate and in-game promotion where one Barnstormers fan can win a cool $10,000. Fans can only sign-up at The Cell City/Fastsigns Experience at the Official Barnstormers Pre-Game Tailgate Party.

Single game tickets for the April 4 home opener against Tulsa start as low as $12 per seat, and season tickets are still available, starting as low as $80 and can be ordered at www.theiowabarnstormers.com or (515) 633-BALL.
