
Andy Collins Named af2 Offensive Player of the Week

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Lightning of the arenafootball2 league announced in conjunction with the af2 League Office that QB Andy Collins has been named Russell Athletic af2 Offensive Player of the Week (ending Mar. 29).
Collins (6-2, 215, Occidental College), in his second af2 season, led the Lightning to a 68-54 Week 1 road victory at West Division rival Central Valley. The 25-year old signal caller completed 24-of-28 passes (85.7 percent) in the contest for 287 yards and six touchdowns with just one interception.
He also scored a career-high three rushing touchdowns to lead the Lightning to their biggest offensive output to open a season in team history. This is the first af2 weekly award of Collins' career.
Last season, Collins threw for 1,689 passing yards, 35 touchdowns and 146 completions in just seven games for the Lightning and broke the single-season franchise record with 212 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns.
The Lightning return to the gridiron this Friday in a Week 2 road battle against the defending National Conference champion Spokane Shock. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Spokane Arena and the game can be viewed for free online courtesy of Nifty Online TV. The Lightning open the home schedule on Saturday, April 18 at 7:00 p.m. against the Central Valley Coyotes at Stockton Arena.
