Storm Win Fifth Game in a Row in 7-3 Defeat of Stampede

Kearney, NE - The Tri-City Storm defeated the Sioux Falls Stampede by a final score of 7-3 Friday night at the Viaero Center. In the win, Tri-City picked up its fifth consecutive victory, and the team has now won 15 of its first 20 regular season games for the second season in a row. The Tri-City offense has now scored 6 of more goals in three of its last four games. The Storm return home tomorrow afternoon for a showdown with Eastern Conference opponent Cedar Rapids at 3:05pm. Filip Forsmark scored his 4th goal of the season just over three minutes into the game to give Tri-City a 1-0 lead on home ice. Elias Rosen picked up an assist on the goal, and the Storm held a one goal lead through the early moments of the game. Sioux Falls answered back with a goal from Brian Chambers at the 9:39 mark of the period to tie the game at 1-1. Minutes later at 15:15 of the 1st period, Jake Crespi netted his 7th goal of the season to put the Storm back in front. The Stampede again would provide an answer with Jammi Krannila scoring his 6th goal of the season to tie the game at 2-2. The Storm and the Stampede entered the 2nd period in a 2-2 tie with Tri-City outshooting Sioux Falls 13-12.

Jake Crespi scored his 2nd goal of the game and 8th goal of the season 30 seconds into the 2nd period to give the Storm another lead in the game. This time, Tri-City would not relinquish control of the game and would outscore the Stampede 5 to 1 in the final two periods of the game. Keaton Pehrson added another Storm goal at 2:46 of the 2nd period to push the Tri-City lead to 4-2. The goal by Pehrson was his 3rd of the season and was assisted by Chase McLane. The Storm outshot the Stampede 16-10 in the 2nd period and took a two-goal lead into the 3rd period.

The Storm offense continued to strike in the 3rd period, with Colton Kalezic netting his 3rd goal of the season just over five minutes into the period. The goal by Kalezic was scored at the 5:20 mark of the period and was assisted by Chase McLane. Tri-City's lead was 5-2 following Kalezic's goal. The Storm scored a 5 on 3 power play goal at the 9:09 mark of the 3rd period to increase the lead to four goals. The goal was scored by Chase McLane and was assisted by Filip Forsmark and Jake Crespi. Sioux Falls' final goal of the night was scored by Artem Ivanyuzhenkov at 16:32 of the 3rd period on the power play. Ronnie Attard netted an empty net goal with less than three minutes left to push the Storm lead to four goals. The goal from Attard was his 4th of the season and final goal of the game, Tri-City skated away with a 7-3 win over Sioux Falls at the Viaero Center. The Storm outshot the Stampede 41-31. Isaiah Saville picked up the win in net for the Storm, stopping 28 of 31 shots.
