Storm Travel to Lincoln for Rivalry Game

Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm hit the road on tonight for a matchup against in state rival Lincoln. The game will be the fourth of the season between the two teams with the Storm holding a 3-0 series advantage. Tri-City is coming off a two game sweep of Madison last weekend at the Viaero Center. The Storm have now won 4 of the last 5, and 12 of the last 15 games. A win tonight would give the Storm solo possession of 1st place in the USHL standings. Tonight's matchup is the only game on the USHL calendar.

Earlier this week, the USHL named two Tri-City Storm players to its weekly "Players of the Week" list. Johnny McDermott was named "Forward of the Week" for the first time in his USHL career. Filip Larsson was named "Goalie of the Week" for the second time this season. Larsson also picked up another honor this week when he was named to Sweden's 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship roster.

In the three prior matchup's vs the Stars, Tri-City has outscored Lincoln 12-3, and has won all three contests. The last time the Storm were in Lincoln, Tri-City rallied in the third period to record a come from behind victory against the Stars. Ronnie Attard, Michael Maloney and Adam Goodsir scored the Storm goals the last time the two teams met.

Lincoln is currently 9-6 overall, but sit in 6th place in a very tough Western Conference this season in the USHL. The top four teams in the Western Conference have all recorded more points in the standings than any team in the Eastern Conference. The Storm is 4-0 the year vs. team from the Eastern Conference, and 14-4 vs. teams in the Western Conference. Lincoln enters tonight's matchup having won 6 of the last 7 games, with the only loss coming to Tri-City on November 22nd. Casey Dornbach leads all Stars players in goals, assists, and points on the season. Dornbach has tallied 9 goals, 10 assists, for 19 points on the year.

Tyler Ward currently leads the Storm in points with 13 on the season. Adam Goodsir, Johnny McDermott, and Ronnie Attard are all tied for the team lead in goals with 5 scored on the year. Connor McMenamin and Ryan Yoon lead the Storm with 10 assists each this season. Filip Larsson continues to lead the USHL in several goaltending statistics including; Wins, GAA, Save Percentage, and Shutouts. Larsson has a 13-3 record on the season and has recorded four shutouts, including one against the Stars in a 3-0 win on October 21st in the first meeting between the two rivals. Larsson has a Goals Against Average (GAA) of 1.50 and a save percentage of 94.2% entering tonight's contest in Lincoln.

Several key figures will be missing from tonight's contest in Lincoln. The Stars will be without defenseman Christian Krygier and forward Paul Cotter. The Storm will be without Head Coach Anthony Noreen and Equipment Manager Dan Bouska. All four are representing Team USA in the 2017 World Junior A Challenge in Truro, Nova Scotia. The international event begins next week.
