Tri-City Storm News Release


Tri-City will play a three game weekend this weekend, with two home games at the Viaero Center on Friday & Saturday. Tri-City is currently 1st place in the Western Conference standings, with a season high five point lead over 2nd place Des Moines. Friday is a $5 Kids Friday, Saturday's Game will include the team's annual Teddy Bear Toss, Sammy's Superhero's Night (Specialty worn jerseys auctioned off after the game, Kids from the Sammy's Superhero's Foundation will enter ice with Storm players during starting lineup announcements), a post-game skate will also follow the Storm vs. Black Hawks game.

Team Notes:

Tri-City holds the best record in the Western Conference at 23-6-1-1 through the first half of the USHL regular season (31 games, 62 game regular season schedule).

Tri-City has 48 points in the standings, and trails Eastern Conference leading and league leading Muskegon by 1 point entering the weekend.

Tri-City will play host to the Muskegon Lumberjacks next weekend (January 18th-19th)

Last week, Tri-City collected 5 of a possible 6 points in the standings (5-4 SOL @ Team USA, 8-2 W @ Team USA, 4-2 W @ Madison)

Tri-City currently holds the leagues longest point streak (5-0-0-1) and is 7-2-0-1 in its last 10 games

The Storm are 12-2-1-0 on home ice this season, and has won 8 of the last 9 games played at the Viaero Center

With a win on Friday night (Muskegon is off), Tri-City can take control of solo 1st place in the USHL League Standings for the 1st time this season

Individual Notes:

Through the first half of the regular season, Brendan Furry leads Tri-City in both goals scored (10), and points (23)

Filip Forsmark is the Storm's assist leader with 18, and has already equaled his offensive output from the 2017-2018 season (22 points)

Storm Captain Ronnie Attard has scored 10 goals on the year, leading all Tri-City defenseman

Attard is a three year USHL veteran, who at the halfway point of the season, has already eclipsed his previous season high for goals scored in a season (8 in 2017-2018)

Brendan Furry and Ronnie Attard are the only two players on the team averaging a Point per Game or more (Furry 1.10, Attard 1.00)

Filip Forsmark, Keaton Pehrson, Benji Eckerle, Ian Murphy are the only Storm players to play in all 31 games thus far in the 2018-2019 regular season

Murphy and Eckerle also skated in all 6 preseason games, and were 2 of 5 Storm players to make an appearance in every preseason game

Zac Jones and Isaiah Saville represented Tri-City in the 2019 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Lincoln, NE last night (January 8th, 2019)

Through the first half of the season, Storm goaltender Isaiah Saville (14-2-1-1) leads the USHL in Goals Against Average (1.70), and Save Percentage (.933%)

Through the first half of the season, Storm goaltender Jake Barczewski (9-4) is 1 win away from equaling a career high for wins in one season (10)
