2019 Waterloo Black Hawks Dash for Cash

January 9, 2019 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa - Thousands of dollars will be on the line to benefit northeast Iowa students on Saturday, February 9th during the Waterloo Black Hawks' 7:05 p.m. game against the Sioux Falls Stampede.

In exactly one month, Kaiser-Corson Funeral Homes in Denver, Readlyn, Shell Rock, and Waverly are sponsoring the Hawks' Second Annual "Dash for Cash." At intermission on February 9th, $2,500 in $1 bills will be spread out on the ice. Ten deserving teachers from the region will have the opportunity to gather as much of the windfall as possible to make classroom improvements and additions.

"Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home is extremely honored to be a part of the Waterloo Black Hawks Dash for Cash promotion," said company President Steve Corson. "I believe every school system would benefit from increased community support. With great leadership in our administration offices, from teachers, and through community support, we can better the lives of each and every student. Teaching kids to count is O.K., but teaching them what counts is best."

From now through 5 p.m. on January 25th, teachers are invited to share the details about how they would put a share of the Dash for Cash money to work in their classrooms. Single-page, written applications are being accepted via email to info@waterlooblackhawks.com. The Black Hawks will reveal the qualifiers the following week through the team's social media channels. Students, coworkers, and school families will be able to attend the February 9th game with discounted tickets and cheer on qualifying educators from their building.

"It's always great to have an enthusiastic crowd get behind the team during an exciting game," said Black Hawks Vice President of Sales and Marketing Joe Greene. "It will be great to have an additional reason for excitement on February 9th. I know that our fans will be rooting on all of the terrific teachers on the ice, even if they don't have a student in school. Our organization would like to thank Kaiser-Corson Funeral Homes for helping us bring back this event for a second season."

Tickets for Waterloo's February 9th game against Sioux Falls, or any other regular season home game, are currently available by calling the Domino's Black Hawks Box Office at (319) 291-7680 or online at waterlooblackhawks.com.
