
Storm Signs Northern State and UND Stand-outs

Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) is pleased to announce the signing of two new members to the Storm team. Wide receiver, Travis Heitmann, and line backer, Tony Hermes, have inked deals to play out the remainder of the 2005 season as the Storm makes their way toward another championship run. Heitmann is originally from Roslyn, SD, and played at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. During his career at Roslyn, Travis was All-Conference, All-Area, and the offensive MVP of the region in his senior year. He then traveled to Aberdeen, where he was a three year starter for the Wolves and also chosen to the Honorable Mention All-Conference in his senior year of play. Heitmann also ran track at Northern, and will plan on graduating next May with his undergrad. The 5'10", 190 lbs. wide receiver will look to add extra depth at both the wide receiver position and on special teams.
Tony Hermes is originally from Aberdeen, SD, where he attended Aberdeen Central High School. He then took his 6'1", 230 lbs. frame to the University of North Dakota to play the linebacker position for the Fighting Sioux. Hermes was a red shirt in 2000 and finished his last year of football this past fall. During his senior year at UND, Tony was awarded for his tremendous play by being named to the 1st team All-North Central Conference (NCC) and 2nd team All-Region. While at UND, Hermes was part of a team the won both the Division II National Championship and an NCC Championship. He recently graduated this May with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.
The Storm (5-3) will host the Evansville Bluecats (5-2) this Saturday, May 21, 2005, at 7:05 pm at the Sioux Falls Arena. The first 2,000 fans through the door will receive FREE Sioux Falls Storm dog tags in keeping with the "Armed Forces Night," theme. Old Chicago will be the games sponsor and the American Red Cross of Sioux Falls will be the non-profit sponsor. The days festivities will start at 3 pm at Buffalo Wild Wings will a tailgate party featuring live music from Jamie and the Wonder Boys, food and drink specials, Lightning Girls, Ball Babes, and much, much more. Join the Storm players, coaches, Lightning Girls, and staff after the game at the post-game party at Champs in the Western Mall on 41st Street.
