Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm returns home to the Viaero Center tonight to host the Lincoln Stars in a Halloween Night game to close out the 2020 Corn Cup. Tonight's game is the final game of the Corn Cup and will be the Storm's last game at the Viaero Center until the teams' home opener for the 2020-2021 USHL regular season on November 14th. Tickets to tonight's game are only $5 and can be purchased online at www.StormHockey.com or by calling the Viaero Center Box Office at 308-338-8144. Tri-City (5-0-0-0) returns home to the Viaero Center tonight following a 5-2 road win over the Omaha Lancers on Thursday at Ralston Arena. Mark Estapa (2), Matthew Knies, Carter Mazur, and Vinny Borgesi all scored goals in the victory. Grant Riley improved to 2-0 in the Corn Cup after recording the win in net for Tri-City. The Storm swept all three Corn Cup games against the Lancers with the win and seek to end the 2020 Corn Cup with the same 3-0 record against the Stars tonight. Tri-City defeated Lincoln 4-2 at the Viaero Center in the opening game of the Corn Cup on October 17th and also recorded a 4-0 shutout win against the Stars at the Ice Box on October 23rd. Entering the final game of the 2020-2021 preseason, Guillaume Richard (3), Mark Estapa (2), Victor Czerneckianair (2), and Vinny Borgesi (2) have all scored multiple goals for the Storm. With one game remaining in the 2020 Corn Cup, Tri-City has outscored its opponents 21-8. Following tonight's home game at the Viaero Center, Tri-City opens the 2020-2021 regular season with three road games (November 6th @ Des Moines, November 7th @ Sioux City, November 13th @ Omaha) before returning home for the 2020 Home Opener at the Viaero Center on November 14th against Lincoln.
Lincoln (0-5-0-0) is seeking its first win of the 2020 Corn Cup tonight when the team travels to the Viaero Center to face off against the Storm. Last night, Lincoln was defeated by a final score of 7-1 on the road against the Omaha Lancers. Carter Schade scored the only goal for the Stars in the loss. Last night's game featured over 100 penalty minutes between the two teams. Entering tonight's game, Lincoln is averaging 44 penalty minutes per game and leads the USHL with 222 penalty minutes. The Stars have allowed more goals than any team in the USHL this preseason (23). Lincoln has scored five goals in five games played. Lincoln is averaging one even-strength goal per every one hundred and fifty minutes played in the preseason. The Stars were the only team to defeat the Storm in the 2019-2020 preseason and seek to do the same in tonight's game. A road win would provide momentum entering Lincoln's opening game of the regular season on November 6th against the Fargo Force at Scheels Arena.
Tonight's game is set to begin at 7:05pm CT, and will be streamed live on HockeyTV, and Storm Radio. For tickets to Storm home games at the Viaero Center, call 308-338-8144 or visit www.StormHockey.com.
