
Stars Demolished by Tri-City to Finish Preseason

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars (0-6) were pummeled 9-0 by the Tri-City Storm (6-0), wrapping up their preseason on Saturday night at Viaero Center.
The Stars jumped out of the gate with opportune scoring chances, but were unable to solve Storm goaltender Todd Scott in the early going. Drew Montgomery drew first blood at 12:38 off a giveaway in the defensive zone, propelling Tri-City to a 1-0 lead. Kyle Aucion beat Guy Blessing on a breakaway directly after serving a two-minute penalty at 16:04.
The Storm outshot Lincoln 7-6 in the opening period.
Josh Eernisse struck again for Tri-City at 8:03 of the middle period, continuing the momentum for the home side. Cole O'Hara's individual effort at 13:13 made it 4-0. Adam Klapka scored two goals separated by 31 seconds (14:11, 14:42), capping off an explosive second frame by the Storm. After 40 minutes, Tri-City led 6-0 with 18 shots on goal as opposed to Lincoln's 11.
Nikolai Mayorov, Nick Nardecchia and Morgan Winters added goals for Tri-City in the third period. Blessing was pulled following Klapka's first goal, stopping 9 of 14 shots. Henrik Laursen allowed four goals on seven shots in relief. Scott recorded his second consecutive shutout against the Stars this preseason, turning aside all 14 Lincoln shots.
Lincoln finished the 2020 preseason 0-6 with a goal-differential of minus-27 (the Stars were outscored 32-5). Tri-City improved to 6-0 with the victory.
