Tri-City Storm News Release
RALSTON, NE. - The Tri-City Storm seeks to clinch a spot in the 2024 Clark Cup Playoffs this weekend with back-to-back road games against the Omaha Lancers and Lincoln Stars. The Storm's "magic number" to lock up a spot in the postseason has dropped to three points following Lincoln's 2-0 shutout loss on home ice to the Omaha Lancers on Wednesday. The Storm can clinch a playoff spot tonight with a win in the team's road game against the Lancers, and a Stars loss tonight to the Sioux Falls Stampede at the Ice Box. Tri-City can also lock up a playoff spot tonight with one point in tonight's game, and a Lincoln regulation loss. Puck drop for tonight's road game against the Lancers at Liberty First Credit Union Arena is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.
Tri-City (26-21-4-5) enters the final six games of the regular season as the 4th place team in the USHL's Western Conference standings. The Storm has posted a 3-6-0-1 record over the last ten games, and is currently on a three-game winless skid. Tri-City dropped three road games last weekend, including a 7-1 decision at Young Arena to the Waterloo Black Hawks on Sunday afternoon. A.J. Lacroix netted Tri-City's only goal in the loss. The Storm has won fourteen of the last nineteen games played against the Lancers at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. Tri-City won two previous road games against Omaha this season by a combined margin of 15-2. The Storm has posted a 5-0-0-0 record in head-to-head games played against the Lancers this season, and won last year's series with a final record of 8-1-0-1. Tri-City is 29-8-2-2 in head-to-head games played against Omaha over the past five seasons, and will battle the Lancers two additional times during the final weekend of the regular season on Friday, April 12th, and Saturday, April 13th. The game on April 12th will serve as the Storm's annual Fan Appreciation Night, and final home game of the regular season. The following night's matchup at Liberty First Credit Union Arena will be Tri-City's sixty-second, and final game of the season.
Omaha (13-40-3-0) has won five of its last eight games, including a 2-0 road win over in-state rival Lincoln Wednesday afternoon at the Ice Box. Will Elger and Nick Pierre each netted a goal for the Lancers in the victory. Kambryn Hendrickson posted a forty-six save shutout to improve to 2-0-0-0 in his USHL career with Omaha. The Lancers are 4-4-0-0 in eight games played against the Stars this season. The winner of the series will be decided on Saturday, April 6th in the team's final meeting of the season at the Ice Box. Omaha's 5-5-0-0 record over the past ten games is the best ten-game record the team has recorded during the 2023-2024 regular season. The Lancers will conclude play this weekend with a road game tomorrow night against the Des Moines Buccaneers at Buccaneer Arena.
Tonight's game is set to begin at 7:05pm CT and will be streamed on FloHockey and Storm Radio. Tickets to home games at the Viaero Center may be purchased online by skating to www.StormHockey.com, or by calling the Viaero Center Box Office during Box Office hours at 308-338-8144.
