Charlie Culberson (2-for-4, SB) had two of San Jose's four hits while Brandon Belt (1-for-4, 2B) extended his hitting streak to 10 games.
The Storm took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Drew Cumberland led off with a double before advancing to third on Daniel Robertson's groundout and then scoring on Vincent Belnome's single up the middle.
The Giants had a golden opportunity in the top of the second as Belt led off with a double down the right field line before Culberson singled to put runners on first and third. Culberson then stole second, but Bass recovered to strikeout the next two hitters, Drew Biery and Wendell Fairley. Jose Flores then grounded out back to the mound stranding a pair of runners in scoring position. Bass wouldn't allow another hitter to reach base for the remainder of his outing. The Lake Elsinore starter retired the last 12 batters that he faced, including seven via the strikeout.
The Storm added single runs in the third and fifth innings against Fitzgerald to move in front 3-0. In the bottom of the third, Belnome blasted an opposite field solo homer to left. Then in the fifth, Belnome drew a two-out walk before Cody Decker smacked an RBI double off the fence in right center.
Anderson (1 1/3 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 1 SO) relieved Fitzgerald to begin the bottom of the sixth and fired a scoreless inning before running into trouble in the seventh. Stoffel (1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 SO) was summoned from the bullpen an he promptly allowed an RBI single to Robert Lara before a wild pitch plated the third run of the frame. Allan Dykstra was up next and he doubled into shallow left field to score two more runs for an 8-0 Lake Elsinore advantage.
In the bottom of the eighth against Stoffel, Belnome drew a one-out walk before Decker belted a two-run homer to deep center field extending the lead to 10-0.
After the second inning, the Giants managed only three baserunners for the remainder of the contest - a two-out walk to Ehire Adrianza in the sixth, a one-out single in the seventh from Culberson and a ninth- inning single off the bat of Francisco Peguero.
