Toledo Walleye News Release
(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm of the ECHL announced today that the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League have assigned goaltender Logan Koopmans to Toledo.
Nick Vitucci, Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel, said of the netminder, "This is a player with a lot of potential. Last season we had another young goaltender prospect in Drew MacIntyre. Logan will get some time starting tomorrow morning at practice."
The Detroit Red Wings in round 5 of the 2002 NHL draft drafted Logan, a 20-year-old rookie. Koopmans has spent the last four seasons with Lethbridge in the Western Hockey League (WHL). Last year, Logan appeared in 62 contests with the Hurricanes and posted a 27-25-8 record. This past season was his best statistically, as Logan completed 5 shutouts and finished with a 2.61 goals against average. His .910 save percentage was also the best he has posted in his career.
Opening Night 2004 is October 22nd as Toledo takes on Wheeling, with a post-game concert featuring Firehouse. Tickets for that contest and for all 36 games are now on sale. Toledo Hockey...A History Of Champions!
