Louisiana IceGators News Release

Lafayette, LA – Louisiana IceGators Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations Todd Gordon today announced the team has been assigned left wing David Bararuk from the Houston Aeros.

David Bararuk spent most of the 2003-04 season with the Utah Grizzlies of the AHL. In 52 games in Utah, Bararuk tallied 5 goals and 7 assists for 12 points. Assigned to the Idaho Steelheads, Barauk made a strong impact in their drive to the Kelly Cup. In 16 regular season games he scored 15 points (7-8-15). In the post season, Barauk again was good for nearly a point a game, as he helped the Steelheads to the Kelly Cup Championship with 14 points (5-9-14) during 15 playoff contests.

"David Bararuk is a proven winner and the kind of player I want on our team," said Gordon. "The Houoston Aeros have sent us another very talented player. David's championship experience will help us on the ice and in the locker room."

This will be Bararuk's 2nd professional season. The 21 year old from Moose Jaw, Sask. was a 5th round pick of the Dallas Stars in 2002, the 147th player taken over all. Bararuk played 4 junior hockey seasons with Moose Jaw of the WHL, where he scored 172 points (68-104-172) in 212 games. He is expected to join the IceGators for training camp early next week.
