Storm Rally From Three Down To Win In Shootout

Tri-City Storm News Release


The Tri-City Storm (17-15-6, 40 pts) rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the second period to beat the Indiana Ice (19-14-2, 40 pts) in a shootout on Saturday night, 4-3 at the Pepsi Coliseum. The Storm swept the season series against the Ice, winning all four meetings.

After a scoreless first period, the Ice opened the scoring in the second period with three straight goals. Bryon Paulazzo, Shane Berschbach, and Alex Wideman each scored for Indiana in the first nine-minutes of the period.

Tucker Long scored for Tri-City at the 12:43 mark in the second period to get the Storm on the scoreboard before the intermission. Nate Jensen tallied the lone assist on Long's third goal of the season.

In the third period, Anthony DeCenzo scored his tenth goal of the season 4:59 into the period to get the Storm to within one goal of Indiana. Maxwell Tardy and Andrew Panzarella earned the assists on the goal, as DeCenzo banged in the loose puck on the right-side of the Indiana net.

The Storm finally tied the game midway through the period, as Matt Johnson scored on a backhand shot in front of the Indiana net. Rick Pinkston and Brett

Mohler were credited with assists on the goal that tied the game at 3-3.

The game went to a shootout with the Storm's Jaden Schwartz and

Mohler each scoring goals, while Carsen Chuback shutout all four shooters from the Ice.

Chubak (11-11-6) made 19 saves on 19 shots in the win for the Storm, while Steven Bolton made 12 saves on 15 shots to start the game. Cab Morris (11-6-1) made 20 saves on 23 shots in the shootout loss for the Ice.

Tri-City on the power play was 0-5, while Indiana was 1-4 with the man-advantage.

The Storm will come home to play the Fargo Force and Sioux City Musketeers this weekend before they head back on the road to Green Bay and Cedar Rapids.

Andrew Panzarella was a game-high plus-3 in the win for the Storm... The Storm is 6-12-4 when allowing the first goal in the game... Tri-City is 6-5-0 in the month of January with two games remaining in the month
