Tri-City Storm News Release
KEARNEY - The Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League announced Thursday that Jason Porter, the team's director of marketing, is leaving the front office staff.
Porter, who joined the Storm prior to the team's inaugural season of 2000-01, worked his final game on Nov. 3 and will leave the Storm front office staff Friday.
In 2000, Porter joined the Storm as an assistant operations manager before being named the team's director of media relations in April of 2001. Following the 2002-03 season, Porter became the team's director of marketing.
Scott Trautman, who has been the Storm's director of media relations and has assisted in the marketing department for over two seasons, will replace Porter as the team's director of marketing.
"Jason has done a tremendous job in his time with the team and everyone from the staff to the players and the fans will hate to see him leave," said Greg Shea, the Storm's vice president of operations. "Having said that, the existing Storm staff and everyone around the organization is excited for the challenges that lie ahead and look to build on the foundation that Jason helped create."
Porter is leaving the Storm to pursue a management position with the Grand Island Express trucking company in Grand Island.
Additionally, the Storm has hired former employee Greg Trautman to join the staff as an operations manager. He is a 2004 graduate of the University of Nebraska at Kearney and completed his internship with the Storm in May. He is scheduled to join the team on Nov. 21.
