Guelph Storm News Release
This past weekend of Storm hockey got off to a bumpy start, when the team dropped their game at home on Friday night to the Belleville Bulls. However, the loss propelled the team into action and they came back on Saturday night to beat the Plymouth Whalers, also at home. The Storm took that momentum down the 401 where they beat the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors on Sunday afternoon.
Friday night's outing against the Bulls was dominated on the ice and on the scoreboard by the visitors. The Storm got out of the first period, trailing only by one, despite being almost doubled in shots on net. The second period saw Belleville break open the floodgates, when they scored 3 more goals to go up 4-0. Belleville's Malcolm Subban put on an outstanding performance in net, turning away all 34 Storm shots in the game, while his team added two more goals in the third, for a 6-0 final.
Still stinging from the game the night before, the Storm had something to prove against a strong Plymouth Whalers team on Saturday night at the Sleeman Centre. In a game that saw a different Storm team come to play, they would get on the board first, after a shorthanded marker by Tanner Richard midway through the opening period. The Whalers evened the game after their powerplay unit scored shortly after. However, the Storm wouldn't let the game slip away from them, with Scott Kosmachuk scoring late in the period to go up 2-1. Kosmachuk and Richard would each get another goal in the game, Kosmachuk on a powerplay opportunity in the second, and Richard icing the game with an empty net goal at the close of the third to ensure the Storm would come away with the win.
Sunday's game in Mississauga was another strong effort from the Storm. Stephen Gaskin's goal was the only scoring of the first period. The Majors would answer with a powerplay marker in the second, but not before Hunter Garlent would close the period with a goal of his own, to make it 2-1 Guelph. Brock McGinn, would seemingly put the game out of reach with a goal at 12:44 in the third period, but the Majors would make a late effort, scoring with less than two minutes remaining in the game. Their surge would be for naught though, as the Storm would end up winning 3-2 and taking four of a possible six points from the weekend.

Player of the Week
The Guelph Storm announced on Monday that forward Brock McGinn is the Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 27th.
McGinn picked up three points, including two goals and one assist this past week. On Tuesday night in Kitchener, the 18 year old scored the lone Storm goal in the 6-1 loss to the Rangers. Held off the scoresheet on Friday and Saturday against the Bulls and the Whalers, the Fergus native bounced back with an impressive game on Sunday against the Majors where he assisted on Stephen Gaskin's goal and scored the winning goal at 12:44 of the third period. Named first star of the game, McGinn played his best game of the weekend.
With three points this week, McGinn currently has 11 points, seven goals and four assists. Missing 10 games due to a suspension earlier this season, McGinn has been hot as of late recording five points in his last five games played.
