Storm Bounces Back with 7-1 Win over Stampede

KEARNEY, NE. - The Tri-City Storm notched a bounce-back victory over the Sioux Falls Stampede Friday night at the Viaero Center after dropping consecutive games in regulation time for only the second time this season. Defenseman Matt Basgall, who was acquired in a transaction with the Omaha Lancers on Thursday, scored twice in Tri-City's 7-1 home victory over the Sioux Falls Stampede. Graham Gamache, Vinny Borgesi, Josh Eernisse, Jeremy Wilmer, and Christian Fitzgerald also scored goals for Tri-City in the win. Puck drop for Saturday's rematch between the Storm and the Stampede is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.

Graham Gamache opened the scoring in Friday's game by netting his sixth goal of the season at 2:55 of the 1st period. Christian Fitzgerald and Tanner Adams each provided an assist on the scoring play. Vinny Borgesi notched his third goal of the season minutes later to give the Storm a 2-0 advantage in the game. Borgesi's goal was netted at 5:14 of the 1st period and was assisted by Jeremy Wilmer and Mason Wheeler. Josh Eernisse scored his fourth goal of the season at 7:28 of the period to increase Tri-City's lead to three goals. Eernisse's goal was his league-leading third shorthanded goal of the season. Kieran Cebrian recorded an assist on the play. Jeremy Wilmer scored a powerplay goal at 15:12 of the 1st period to give the Storm a 4-0 lead in the game. Wilmer's goal was assisted by Dane Dowiak and was his 17th goal of the year. Tri-City outshot Sioux Falls 14-4 in the 1st period and carried a four-goal lead into Friday's 2nd period.

Austen May netted the Stampede's only goal of the game on the powerplay at 4:28 of the 2nd period to bring the game to a 4-1 score. Ryan Healey notched an assist on the play. Matt Basgall scored his first goal of the night and seventh goal of the season at 11:44 of the 2nd period to give the Storm another four-goal lead in the game. Basgall's goal was assisted by Tanner Adams and Mitchell Miller. Christian Fitzgerald scored his seventh goal of the season at 13:51 of the 2nd period to give Tri-City a 6-1 lead in the game. Fitzgerald's goal was netted shorthanded and was assisted by Graham Gamache. Tri-City outshot Sioux Falls 11-7 in the 2nd period and led by five goals entering the 3rd period.

Matt Basgall notched his second goal of the game and eighth goal of the season at 4:49 of the 3rd period. The goal was assisted by Cole O'Hara and Jeremy Wilmer, and was the final scoring play of Friday's game. Sebastian Wraneschitz notched his fourth win of the season in net for Tri-City after turning away 17 of Sioux Falls' 18 shots on net. Noah Grannan recorded the loss in net for the Stampede after making 18 saves on 24 shots. Isak Posch made 11 saves on 12 shots in relief of Grannan in the final 26:09 of game time.

Friday's game was played in front of a crowd of 3,195 at the Viaero Center. Tri-City improved to 31-7-2-0 in the victory.
