Robby Fabbri (1G, 3A) and Kerby Rychel (1G, 3A) combined for eight points, as the Guelph Storm topped the Spitfires 6-4 on Friday night in front of 4,864 at the Sleeman Centre.

When Rychel (27) scored on the power play at 17:41 of the second period, Guelph (45-9-2-1) looked home and cooled with 4-1 lead. But Slater Koekkoek's 15th of the season with a man-advantage a little more than a minute later got the Spitfires back in the game.

Again, the Storm looked to be in full control after Zack Mitchell (25) increased the lead to 5-2 just 92 seconds into the third.

But goals by Cristiano DiGiacinto (17, 6:50) and later Brady Vail (30, 13:57) got Windsor (34-22-3-0) within a goal.

The comeback was quickly stunted when a late penalty call on defenceman Patrick Sanvido put the Spitfires down a man with less than three minutes to play.

Former Spitfire Nick Ebert's 10th goal of the season gave the Storm a two-goal lead with just 1:20 to play.

Brody Milne (15) had the other goal in a losing cause.

Stephen Pierog (14), Ryan Horvat (15) had the other goals for Guelph, which ended a streak of four straight Windsor wins at the Sleeman Centre.

Alex Fotinos made 30 saves in goal for Windsor, while Justin Nichols made 21 for the win.

The Spitfires wrap a stretch of seven games in 11 days when they host the Sarnia Sting at the WFCU Centre Sunday afternoon. Gametime is 2:05.
