Home Depot Backyard Rink Contest Winner Announced

On February 13th, Owen McDade and Stephen Desrocher made their way to Courtice to the home of Ian Smith, winner of the Home Depot Backyard Rink Contest. The contest took online submissions from local residents who had built a backyard rink and gave the opportunity for the winner to play a game of shinny with members of the Oshawa Generals. Ian Smith was randomly selected from a group that consisted of nearly 25 online entries from within the surrounding Durham Region. Local residents were encouraged to submit their ballot entries at homedepotbackyardrink.com during the contest period of January 1st - January 31st, 2014.
The contest draw was held on February 6th, 2014, and the winning ballot was randomly selected by Generals defenseman Will Petschenig.
