Kearney, Neb. - The Tri-City Storm has acquired defenseman Joseph Campolieto from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights (NAHL), Head Coach and General Manager Bill Muckalt announced Monday.

Campolieto, 18, is the Knights' points leader (11 pts.) through 11 games and is the second-best scoring defenseman in the NAHL. The Union College commit has also added a pair of goals to go along with a plus-1 rating.

"We're excited to add Joseph. He's a left-handed shot defenseman and feel he will be a long-term benefit to our organization," Muckalt said.

The 6-foot, 185-pound blueliner was named to NHL Central Scouting's "Players To Watch" list on October 4. Given a "C" rating, NHL Central Scouting ranks Campolieto as a 4th/5th/6th round candidate for the 2017 NHL Draft.

"Joseph had an amazing growth over the summer in height and strength and we feel his skating and puck-moving ability will be a benefit to our team," explained Steve Lowe, the Storm's President of Hockey Operations.

A native of Eynon, Pennsylvania, Campolieto played in the Keystone State for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's youth programs from 2012-16. After playing at the 16U level from 2012-14, Campolieto moved to the 18U level from 2014-16 and made the NAHL last season. In 21 games with the Knights in 2015-16, Campolieto tallied two goals and three points.

Tri-City kicks off its Fight Cancer Weekend this Thursday-Saturday, featuring a pair of home games. On Thursday, October 13 from 5-9 p.m., Tri-City invites all fans to "Paint the Ice" and remember those affected by cancer. The Storm will wear specialty jerseys and play on the painted ice against Cedar Rapids on Friday, October 14 at 7:05 p.m. for Color Out Cancer Night presented by Midway Auto Dealerships.

To continue the weekend theme, the Storm and Kearney Concrete team up for Concrete Cares Night on Saturday, October 15 at 7:05 p.m. Tri-City will play Lincoln on the painted ice and the Storm will wear new and different specialty jerseys.
