Stone Crabs Team with Helping Hand for Canned Food Drive Tomorrow
June 4, 2009 - Florida State League (FSL1)
Charlotte Stone Crabs News Release
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - The Charlotte Stone Crabs are teaming up with the Englewood Helping Hand to host a canned food drive at the stadium gates prior to the team's game on Friday, June 5, at 7:05 p.m.
The person with the largest donation (by weight) will win a free Luxury Suite Night for 12 people (a $480 value) courtesy of the Stone Crabs. A scale will be placed outside the gates and fans can weigh their donations as they enter. Gates open at 6:00 p.m.
Helping Hand officials said they are hoping the night will be a much-needed boost to their pantry, which distributes food to those in need. The pantry's shelves are sometimes bare in the summer due to lack of both cash and food donations.
"The Charlotte Stone Crabs and Ripken Baseball are committed to serving this community, and we think Friday will be a great opportunity for us to give back to those in need," said Joe Hart, general manager of the Stone Crabs.
Tickets for the game against the Daytona Cubs are still available either by contacting Englewood Helping Hand at 941-474-1017 or through the Charlotte Sports Park box office at 941-206-HITS. For more information, visit www.stonecrabsbaseball.com.
