Flying Tigers Thad Weber and Andrew Hess Selected to FSL All-Star Team

Lakeland, FL - The Florida State League (FSL) 2009 All-Star teams have been announced by League President Chuck Murphy. Right handed pitcher Thad Weber will represent the Flying Tigers at the 48th annual FSL All-Star Game. The game will take place at Hammond Stadium in Ft. Myers, home of the Ft. Myers Miracle, on Saturday, June 20 at 7:35 p.m.

Weber is currently seventh in the FSL with a 2.36 ERA. He has allowed only 37 hits in 45.2 innings pitched while issuing just 9 walks. He has 30 strikeouts on the season and is 3-3. Weber was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 16th round of the June 2008 draft. He made eleven starts for the West Michigan Whitecaps after playing college ball at the University of Nebraska. Webber was a second team All-Big 12 Conference selection as a senior after posting a 9-5 record with 72 strikeouts in 79 innings pitched.

Hess is second among Flying Tigers starters with a 3.15 ERA. He has allowed 48 hits and 40 innings pitched while walking only 7 batters and striking out 23. Hess was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 19th round of the June 2007 draft. He was a Third-Team All-Big Ten Conference selection as a senior at the University of Michigan after posting a 7-2 record and a 4.52 ERA.
