
Five Threshers Named to All-Star Team

Clearwater, FL - The Florida State League (FSL) 2009 All-Star teams have been announced by League President Chuck Murphy. Dominic Brown, Kyle Drabek, Yohan Flande, Fidel Hernandez, and Tim Kennelly will represent the Clearwater Threshers at the 48th annual FSL All-Star Game. The game will take place at Hammond Stadium in Ft. Myers, home of the Ft. Myers Miracle, on Saturday, June 20 at 7:35 p.m.
Dominic Brown, the top prospect in the Phillies organization, makes his second all-star appearance of his short minor league career. Brown has punished Florida State League pitching throughout the season. Brown currently is in the top five in 10 batting categories, and 1st in the league in slugging percentage. Currently, Brown is hitting .320 with 9 homeruns, 38 RBI's, and a .986 on-base percentage. Brown has already been named FSL Player of the Week in the beginning of May.
Kyle Drabek was selected to the FSL All-Star game but will not be able to participate due to a promotion to Reading. Drabek was recently named FSL Player of The Week for the last week of May. Drabek, who is coming back from "Tommy John" surgery, was excellent for the Threshers. In his last game with the Threshers on May 29th, Drabek threw a complete game shutout against the Charlotte Stone Crabs. During his time in Clearwater, Drabek was 4-1 with a 2.48 ERA and a league leading 74 strikeouts.
Yohan Flande, a 2004 free agent signee, leads the Threshers with 5 wins. In nine starts this season, he has posted a 2.95 ERA in 55 innings of work. The hard throwing left-hander also has recorded 46 strikeouts. Flande started out the season with a 21 inning scoreless streak.
Fidel Hernandez is currently having his best minor league season, hitting .289. The versatile infielder has been a main stay at second base for the Threshers this season and played 127 games at shortstop last season.
Catcher Tim Kennelly has been selected to his first minor league all-star appearance. Kennelly, who is going to the all-star game as a catcher, also plays the infield and outfield for the Threshers. Kennelly is currently hitting .303 with 2 homeruns with 29 RBI's. Kennelly is batting .342 over his last 10 games, with a current seven game-hitting streak.
