South Carolina Stingrays News Release

The Week That Was...

The South Carolina Stingrays closed a season-long seven-game road trip with a three-game in three-night series in Florida as they visited the Orlando Solar Bears on Thursday and Friday and the Florida Everblades on Saturday for a week record of 2-1-0-0 and improved their overall record to 44-20-1-6.

On Thursday, the Stingrays appeared in their league-leading 12th shootout, defeating the Solar Bears after 15 rounds for a 2-1 victory at the Amway Center. Forward Rob Ricci buried the lone regulation-time goal and defenseman Jake Suter added the game-winning shootout marker. Goaltender Jeff Jakaitis earned his ECHL-record 16th consecutive victory and stopped 10 of 15 Solar Bears shootout attempts including seven-game winning scenarios.

The two sides also needed extra time to decide Friday's matchup with Stingrays defenseman Michal Cajkovsky grabbing the game-winning goal 25 seconds into overtime in a 3-2 triumph. Forwards Patrick Gaul and Derek DeBlois added goals midway through the first period and early in the second.

Ricci found the back of the net again on Saturday against the Everblades, but the Stingrays fell 3-1, snapping a three-game winning streak and Jakaitis' personal streak. The loss is Jakaitis' first since January 30 at Orlando.
