Stingrays Promote O'Connell to President

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays announced today that Sean O'Connell has been named President of the team. O'Connell has served as the team's Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the past two seasons. He will assume full responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the team immediately. O'Connell takes over for Matthew Klidjian, who held the position for the past two seasons.

"This is a great opportunity and I am honored that the Board of Directors of the Stingrays has placed their trust in me," said O'Connell. "I have enjoyed working with the talented staff that we have in place, our sponsors and our fans to this point and look forward to building on what we already have in place."

As President, Sean will run the team's business operations while continuing to focus on the acquisition and development of new national and local sponsors as well as heading up the ticket, group and corporate sales departments.

O'Connell brings a wealth of experience to the position. The native of Salisbury, MA spent two years in the Roanoke Express front office as the Assistant General Manager and the Director of Ticket Sales, prior to his arrival in the Low country. Before his stint in Roanoke, he spent a season with the Tallahassee Tiger Sharks as the Director of Ticket Sales.

Sean began his career as an inside broker at Putnam Investments in Boston, MA, after picking up a BA in Business Administration from Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire in 1996. Sean and his wife Sarah reside in Mt. Pleasant.

The Stingrays have not named a replacement for Head Coach Rick Adduono yet, but expect to due so in the next few weeks.

"At this point we are being flooded with qualified candidates," explained O' Connell. "Both internal and external applicants are being considered."
