Sarnia Sting News Release
Sarnia, ON - The Sarnia Sting announced prior to the start of their 25th season on Saturday that 19-year-old forward Ryan McGregor has been named team captain.
A fourth-year centreman from Burlington, Ont., McGregor was originally a second round (24th overall) pick by the Sting in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection. In 50 games last season, he registered 13 goals, 19 assists and 32 points before continuing his production into the playoffs when he put up 10 points (3-7-10) in 12 postseason contests.
The 6-foot-1, 177Ib. McGregor was a sixth round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2017 NHL Draft and recently attended Training Camp in Toronto.
While McGregor wore the 'C' for the first time in Saturday's 6-2 road win over the Saginaw Spirit, fellow veterans Anthony Salinitri, Adam Ruzicka and Mitch Eliot served as assistants.
