February 25, 2018 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Sarnia Sting News Release
The Sarnia Sting hosted the Flint Firebirds on Sunday afternoon.
Coming off last night's game, the Sting were in full on attack mode today. Justin Fazio made the start in net at Progressive Auto Sales Arena, and Sarnia emerged with their largest margin of victory this season.
In the first period, it appeared the two sides would be in a tight battle all game long. Sting forward Adam Ruzicka scored the opening frame's lone goal. Ruzicka scored his thirty-third of the season, pouncing on a loose puck just above the crease of Flint goaltender Garrett Forrest. Sting captain Jordan Kyrou and Drake Rymsha drew the assists. For Rymsha, it came as his milestone 150th career point in the Ontario Hockey League.
Moving into the second period, the game completely changed.
Kyrou scored his thirty-second goal of the season thirty-two seconds into the second period. How cool is that!
With a two-goal lead, the Sting jammed their skates on the gas pedal. Not a brake was in sight.
Sting defenceman Cam Dineen then scored his first of two goals on the afternoon. Dineen patiently out-waited the Firebirds defensive setup, found the shooting lane he wanted, and buried it. 3-0. Anthony Salinitri had the primary assist, and Kyrou had the other. At this point, one should start counting.
Midway through the middle frame, Kyrou scored his second of the day. It brought him up to 33 goals.

Sting forward Jonathan Ang added one of his own. Ang put the puck on goal down low, and while it may have hit something on the way in, Ang had his twenty-second on the campaign. 5-0.
Kyrou came right back for the hat-trick. With a little over a minute remaining in the period, Kyrou unleashed a blasting slapshot off an offensive zone faceoff. Kyrou one-timed a bullet for his third hatty this season.
Starting the third period, Dineen scored his second of the game. Franco Sproviero and Kyrou picked up the helpers on Dineen's eighteenth.
With most people thinking he was probably done for the day, Kyrou just kept going. Kyrou made a powerful step around a Firebirds defenceman before soaring in on net for his fourth goal. It brought him to a total of four goals and three assists this afternoon. Seven points today brought Kyrou to 99 points in 49 games so far. So close to becoming the first player league-wide to eclipse the century mark. Surely, that'll happen soon.
Sting forward Michael Pezzetta capped the game with seven minutes remaining. Five different goal scorers put together a combined nine goals into the Flint net. The final score was 9-0.
Fazio made twenty-two saves in goal to record the shutout.

The Sting have a quick turnaround, returning to action on Tuesday night in Kitchener. It'll be the OHL's lone Tuesday game, meaning all eyes will be on the Sting and Rangers. Puck drop is 7:00 PM at The Aud.
