Sarnia Sting News Release

The Sarnia Sting hosted the Kitchener Rangers on Tuesday night.

It was game three of our best-of-seven Western semi-final. In front of a rocking Progressive Auto Sales Arena, the Sting ran the show from start to finish.

In the first period, homegrown Sarnia forward Franco Sproviero scored the opening goal. After a sweet centering pass from Curtis Egert, Sproviero potted his third of the playoffs.

Just when it looked like the first period would end with a 1-0 lead, Sting forward Sean Josling did what he does best these days: score goals. Josling buried one with four seconds left in the opening frame. Linemate Hugo Leufvenius put the puck on net, and Josling finished it off. Josling's fifth of the postseason gave the Sting a 2-0 lead after one.

Moving through a scoreless, physical second period, the scoresheet found action again in the third.

Sting forward Jonathan Ang earned himself a shorthanded breakaway seven minutes in. Ang went backhand-forehand and slid the puck past Kitchener goaltender Mario Culina. 3-0.

Rangers forward Joseph Garreffa scored the visitors' lone goal shortly after Ang's. In the grand scheme of things, it wasn't enough.

Sproviero added his second of the game, this one into the empty Kitchener net, to clinch things off. Tonight's final score was 4-1.

Sting goaltender Justin Fazio made twenty-six saves in the victory and was named the game's first star.
