Sting Drop 6-3 Western Conference Battle to Rangers

Sarnia Sting News Release
The Sarnia Sting visited the Midwest division-leading Kitchener Rangers on Tuesday night.
There was a whole lot going on in this one. Let's get right to the action.
In the first period, Sting forward Jonathan Ang got the wheels rolling. Sarnia goaltender Justin Fazio did some magic acts in our crease before the puck left the defensive zone. As he often does, Ang scooped up the puck, took three strides, and had split two Kitchener skaters. Ang lifted the puck over Rangers goalie Mario Culina to give us a 1-0 lead.
Just over a minute later, Rangers forward Kole Sherwood answered with a reply. Sherwood put another one past Fazio shortly after, and Kitchener had themselves a 2-1 lead.
Hugo Leufvenius was the man who responded for the Sting. With the man advantage, Leufvenius took up position in front of the Kitchener crease and capitalized on a loose puck scramble. The second year draft-eligible hammered the puck home, tying the game at two apiece.
Rangers forward Logan Brown gave the home side a 3-2 lead heading to the break. It was a dandy of a first period.
In the second, the goals were low, but emotions were high. Both sides exchanged major checks throughout the frame. The officials did their best to contain these Western conference rivals. There was a whole lot of talking going on between the whistles. Scrums for days. Sting forwards Jordan Kyrou and Drake Rymsha were at the centre of attention. Heading to the third, everyone in attendance knew they were in for an exciting finish.
Kitchener forward Rickard Hugg scored five minutes in. Hugg's fifth of the season gave the Rangers a 4-2 lead.
Adam Ruzicka replied a minute later for Sarnia. Assists on Ruzicka's thirty-fourth of the season went to captain Jordan Kyrou and linemate Anthony Salinitri. For Kyrou, it was a his one-hundredth point of the season.
Kitchener finished out the game with two more goals. Brown and Rangers captain Connor Bunnaman each tallied to make the final score 6-3 for the blueshirts.
The Sting return to action on Friday in Sault Ste. Marie. Game time is 7:07 PM at the Essar Centre. We'll see you at The Hive on Sunday when we host the Owen Sound Attack!
