Stewart Swats Tigers to Series Finale Win

LOWELL, MA-CF Jake Stewart (2-5) hit his fifth home run of the season in the 10th inning to snap a 1-1 tie and give the Connecticut Tigers (29-36) a 2-1 win over the Lowell Spinners (32-34) at LeLacheur Park on Sunday night.

The Spinners scored a single run in the first inning. CF Matty Johnson (1-3) walked and went to second base on a ground out by 3B Mike Miller (0-4). He scored on a single by SS Deven Marrero (1-4) for a 1-0 lead.

1B Edgar Corcino (1-4) led off the fifth inning with a single and moved to second base on a walk by C Bennett Pickar (0-2). He scored on a double by SS Jared Reaves (1-4) off the left field wall for a 1-1 tied score.

The Tigers head to Burlington, VT to take on the Vermont Lake Monsters in a two-game series that begins Monday at 7:05 p.m. RHP Endrys Briceno (4-3, 3.15) gets the start for Connecticut while RHP J.C. The Connecticut Tigers are the Class-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play in the New York-Penn League.
