Steve Fryer and Chris Wardle Selected in NLL Expansion Draft, Wardle Traded to Colorado for Julian Garritano and Mike Mallory

Tuesday, in the 2019 NLL Expansion Draft, the Rochester Knighthawks selected goalie Steve Fryer and forward Chris Wardle from the Colorado Mammoth.

Rochester selected Steve Fryer as the first pick in the ninth round and selected Chris Wardle as the first pick in the 10th round.

At the conclusion of the Expansion Draft, the Rochester Knighthawks traded Chris Wardle to the Colorado Mammoth, acquiring defenseman Julian Garritano and forward Mike Mallory.

Rochester then traded Mallory to the Vancouver Warriors for defenseman Travis Burton and a second-round pick in the 2020 NLL Entry Draft.

Mallory played for the Mammoth for two seasons (2016-17), scoring a total of 20 points (7g/13a).

Colorado selected Garritano in the third round (35th overall) in the 2018 NLL Entry Draft. In his rookie season, Garritano scooped 19 loose balls, forced eight caused turnovers and also scored one goal through eight regular-season appearances.

Fryer played for the Mammoth, as Dillon Ward's relief, for two seasons (2018-19). Fryer had two wins and two losses, totaling 157 saves.

The Rochester Knighthawks made the first selection overall in the 2019 NLL Expansion Draft on Tuesday. Through 11 total rounds, 22 players were selected. A maximum of two players were selected from each team.
