Columbus Clippers News Release

The Columbus Clippers dropped the second game of their series with the Louisville Bats, 4-0, tonight at Huntington Park.

Louisville starter Robert Stephenson helped his team to the win, dominating the Clippers for six innings of scoreless work.

The Bats got after Clippers' starter Josh Tomlin, down on a Major League rehab assignment from Cleveland, with three runs in the first inning. C.J. McElroy led off the game with his first homerun of the season, and Gabriel Guerrero followed with a two-run shot two batters later.

Tomlin kept Louisville scoreless in the second, and was relieved by Ryan Merritt in the third, having allowed three earned runs on six hits, with no walks and one strikeout.

The Bats struck for one off Merritt in the third inning when Chadwick Tromp singled to make it 4-0.

All the while, Stephenson held the Clippers to one hit until he was pulled after the sixth inning. He walked three and struck out 13.

The Bats' bullpen was great, as well, locking the Clippers down for the rest of the night.

The Clippers and Bats will face off in game three tomorrow at Huntington Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
