Stefan Schneider Gets Two Goals Wednesday As Portland Falls 6-2

The Portland Winterhawks got two goals from Stefan Schneider in a 6-2 loss Wednesday on the road against the Tri-City Americans.
The Americans got on the board first, when defenseman Brett Plouffe notched his fourth of the season on a power play at the 7:08 mark of the first period. Just 41 seconds later Tri-Cities struck again, as Johnny Lazo beat Winterhawks netminder Ian Curtis, who would then be replaced by Mac Carruth.
The Americans then made it 3-0 in the first when Kruise Reddick scored his ninth of the season with just under four minutes to go in the frame. Portland got on the board late in the second period when Stefan Schneider scored a shorthanded goal at the 15:12 mark, but the Americans bounced back less than two minutes later when Justin Feser notched his 10th of the season on a power play to make it 4-1.
Tri-Cities would extend their lead 6:31 into the third when Neal Prokop scored his fifth of the season to make it 5-1. Just over 90 seconds later Schneider earned his second of the game and fifth of the season when he beat Americans goaltender Drew Owsley. But Jarrett Toll answered back for Tri-Cities with a power play goal, wrapping up the scoring for the evening.
The Americans were 3-8 on the power play for the night, while Portland was held scoreless with the man advantage. The Americans outshot Portland 42-26.
Next up for Portland is a home-and-home against the Seattle Thunderbirds beginning Friday in Kent, followed by a Saturday night tilt at the Rose Garden in the annual Bank of the West Teddy Bear Toss.
