Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - The Youngstown SteelHounds in conjunction with the Central Hockey League announced today that Andy Franck has been named the Sher-Wood - CHL Goaltender of the Month for March.

Franck, 26, was 8-0-1 in the final month of the regular season posting a 2.26 goals against average and a .929 save percentage. The third year pro from Lakewood, Ohio finished the regular season second in the CHL in wins with a 26-10-4 record.

"This is exactly why Andy Franck is here," said Head Coach Kevin Kaminski. "He did all the little things. He controlled rebounds, made key stops and kept us in games when we were getting out shot 32-11 after two periods. This is well deserved and he is playing with great confidence and grit and will be able to lead us in the playoffs."

Franck got off to a hot start this season being named the first goaltender of the week for the 2007-08 season. He was also selected as the starting goaltender for the Northern Conference in the 2008 CHL All Star Game. In addition to the personal accolades, Franck went 7-1-1 during his stint with the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.

Franck and the Hounds travel to Colorado to play the Eagles in game one of the Northern Conference Semifinals on Friday night at 9:05 EST. All SteelHounds games are available on ESPN Radio 1240 and SteelHounds.com.

Hounds playoff tickets for games three, four and five (if necessary) are on sale now for $8.00 by calling (330) 747-PUCK. For more information crash the net at SteelHounds.com.
