Andy Franck Named Sher-Wood/CHL Goaltender Of The Month

The Central Hockey League announced today that Andy Franck of the Youngstown SteelHounds has been named the Sher-Wood/Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Month for the month of March/2008. The honor caps off a month that saw the Lakewood, Ohio native earn points in all nine starts going 8-0-1 with a 2.26 goals against average and a .929 save percentage. Franck will receive a custom leather jacket from Sher-Wood, the official stick, glove, pant and protective equipment supplier to the CHL to recognize his accomplishment.

Franck has had an extraordinary season posting a 26-10-4 record with the Hounds and a 7-1-1 record with the American Hockey League's Providence Bruins totaling a 33-11-5 record for the season. The 6-1, 195-pound goaltender was the starting net minder for the Northern Conference in the 2008 CHL All-Star Game in Broomfield, Colorado. Franck was instrumental in the Hounds best season in the three-year history of the franchise going 39-20-5 and finishing with the second highest point total in the Northern Conference and fourth highest in the CHL.

Other goaltenders receiving consideration for the monthly award for January include Arizona's Rob McVicar, Austin's Miguel Beaudry, Bossier-Shreveport's John DeCaro, Corpus Christi's Jason Tapp, Laredo's Dustin Traylen, Mississippi's Sebastien Centomo, New Mexico's Andrew Martin, Oklahoma City's Sean Connors and Texas' David Cacciola and Brett Jaeger.
