MISSISSAUGA, ON - The Mississauga Steelheads and your Local State Farm Agents are pleased to announce that the 2015 Pink and the Rink game, hosted on February 22 at the Hershey Centre was a shining success, with over $12,000 raised for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and Trillium Health Partners.

This year's event raised $12, 345 for charity, an increase of over 100% from last year's game. Contributions were collected through ticket sales, 50-50 sales and an in-game silent auction where the limited edition pink Steelheads game jerseys and other items were auctioned off. The 50-50 contributions - matched by the Mississauga Valley AM and Mississauga Streetsville Rotary clubs - were directed to the Trillium Health Partners Network and specifically the Oncology Unit at the Credit Valley location.

"This is a game we mark on the calendar every year. It's a fun event for a great cause and working with our Local State Farm Agents has been such a pleasure over the years." stated Scott Rogers, Steelheads' Vice-President of Business Operations. "We are thrilled to raise over $12,000 and I think we have only scratched the surface!"

Mississauga's local State Farm agents have sponsored the annual Pink at the Rink game for the past three seasons with the Steelheads and have been a driving force behind raising funds and awareness. "Local State Farm agents, Doug McDonald, Michelle Cooper, Alice Fahey, George McFarlane, Jenny Rushforth, Frank Franchino and Chris Turner are proud to support the Mississauga Steelheads and the annual Pink at the Rink game," said State Farm Agent Chris Turner. "The annual event supports breast cancer research and was a huge success this year as it was the largest amount we have raised through this event yet! We are very proud to be a part of this event as well as local sponsors of the Mississauga Steelheads!"

The Steelheads are looking for a strong finish to their season as they battle with the Peterborough Petes and the Belleville Bulls for the last two spots in the tightly contested Eastern Conference. The Steelheads are at home this Friday as they take on the Barrie Colts at the Hershey Centre before hitting the road to take on the Oshawa Generals on Saturday.
